Zengyang Pan

I'm building robots at XYZ Robotics. Previously, I was an AI research engineer at YITU. I completed an M.Eng. (B.Eng. Integrated) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London.

My passions lie in AI & robotics. I believe an approach based on advanced AI for vision and planning is the way to achieve a general solution for robotics. I am also fascinated by autonomous systems with extraordinary mobility capabilities.

Outside of work, I enjoy movies and extreme sports.

Innovations I Lead

Mixed Case Palletizing Robot

Mixed case palletizing involves arranging diverse products of varying sizes and weights onto the fewest number of pallets or rollcages while ensuring stability. My team achieved a top 3 global prize in the IEEE ICRA Stacking Challenge 2023. Our mobile manipulation robot efficiently handles randomly fed cases and is highly maneuverable.

Piece Picking Robot

The warehouse robot picks a specified number of novel items from cluttered storage bins and places them into order bins. It features advanced visual perception and intelligent action strategies, including autonomous object toppling, tool switching, and more. It performs up to 1,800 picking operations per hour.

Real-time Pedestrian Tracker

The tracking algorithm is generalized for 2D video streams from various camera viewpoints, including side and top views, and performs well in crowded scenes. The visual detection and matching techniques set a world record in person re-identification in 2020.
